"If life gives you paws, then you best use them!"

Name: Hazelpaw
Gender: She-cat
Age: Eight moons
Breed: Mixed
Clan/Rank: RiverClan apprentice

Appearance: A stocky but lithe little she-cat with short, powerful legs and a feathery tail like an otter's. She has tufty fur that tends to stick up every which way, and takes a lot of work and time to tame it. It is especially thick around her belly and up between her ears, growing up taller and taller from her back to peak between her ears and around her cheeks. She is a mutt of practically any breed, derived from generations of strays and wildcats. She has, overall, a sorrel-colored body dappled over with pale and darker patches. Her eyes are different colors- one a golden hue, the other bright amber.

Personality: [Curious] [Childish] [Impatient] [Bold] [Insecure] [Compassionate] [Understanding] [Easygoing]

Curious-
Hazelpaw is always getting her nose into places it doesn't belong, due to a high sense of overwhelming curiosity. She has difficulty keeping herself in check, especially when something new catches her eye- often, she will prance away on patrols just to see what the yellow bud was in the mud puddle, or if that was really a squirrel up in that oak tree. She has trouble knowing the boundaries and often will skip cluelessly into trouble; however, her swift paws quite often carry her back out again. She has yet to learn from her mistakes because of this.

Childish- Hazelpaw is life's eternal kitten. It seems this tufty apprentice will never quite grow up; though she is already close to being done growing, she is small and has the energy of a three-moon-old kit. She is always bouncing and joking, leaping forwards and backwards. Older cats have difficulty dealing with this always-fidgeting young cat; she in turn has difficulty understanding their views. She believes that warriors don't remember what it's really like to be an apprentice, and has trouble giving immediate respect to her elders.

Impatient-& Not much can keep Hazelpaw back.& She will not stand for laziness or slow cats, and will barge past patrol leaders if she thinks they are walking too leisurely. She has a sort of contempt for cats who will not do the job or won't do it right, and will even drop hints about the fact that they are lazy behind their backs. She has trouble following orders, especially those that hinder her swift progress, and has a love for moving fast. Hazelpaw is certainly one rabbit of a cat, and it takes much patience and determination to keep up with her.

Bold- Hazelpaw is a brave and fearless cat, always at the head- though whether this may be from courage or impatience depends on the situation. She will not stand for others insulting her Clan or friends, and will fight an older cat if she believes they have somehow done her wrong. Not much scares this apprentice, and her fearlessness has led her into trouble due to her incapability to recognize danger. However, her boldness is certainly a strong quality, and leads her to be an excellent warrior for her Clan.

Insecure- Though Hazelpaw may pretend otherwise, she is not thick-skinned. The tiniest insult will leave her tail drooping, though only when others aren't looking. A cat may jokingly poke fun at her kittypet roots, and Hazelpaw may even joke back, but on the inside she will be hurting. She is extremely sensitive to insults, and lacks the self-confidence that most assume she has. This leads Hazelpaw to doubt herself constantly; though on the outside she might be leading the charge, inside, she is constantly questioning if what she has done is right.

Compassionate- Hazelpaw sincerely loves to help others and befriend those who are lonely. She is a sweet and gentle she-cat when not out on patrol or taking on apprentice duties, and will even be found walking slowly to the Gatherings so she might stay and keep the elders company. She is sincerely a good sort of cat, despite her poorer qualities, and is a friend to be cherished. Hazelpaw would never let a friend be injured or become uncomfortable if she can help it; she will fight for those she cares for and will always have their backs.

Understanding- Sweet Hazelpaw is one of the most sympathetic little cats around. Even though she might not give her elders immediate respect, she can even sympathize with the older warriors, too. Nothing seems to escape this bright apprentice, and she will notice if a cat is uncomfortable or hurting immediately. She will take the time to pause and listen to another's plight, even offer honest advice, and would have made a great medicine cat if she had been chosen as Feathertail's apprentice. As it is, Hazelpaw spends her time helping her denmates and others.

Easygoing- When Hazelpaw puts her mind to something, nobody can budge her, but the rest of the time Hazelpaw is content to make others happy. She will do whatever her friends ask of her, and will even go along on a trip or an event that she personally dislikes to please the crowd. She may be difficult when it comes to training, but Hazelpaw is a likable cat when she isn't running about and jumping. She definitely has her moments of kitlike behavior, but can also surprise others with serious times as well.

History:

Hazelpaw was born as Pea, alongside her littermate Biscuit, to a kittypet named Kite and a RiverClan warrior named Rushwhisker.

Rushwhisker was one of the original Clan cats, an apprentice during the battle of the Dark Forest, and an honorable and respectable sort of cat. Kite took a liking to him immediately. The handsome brown tabby tom took one look at sweet, cream-colored Kite, and fell in love. It was difficult for Rushwhisker to see her, but they managed; after seasons of visits, Kite learned she was expecting kits.

Both were delighted, but also saddened, knowing that one of them would not see their kits very often. Finally, it was decided that Kite would live with the kittens, and Rushwhisker would continue to visit. It would be too strange for Rushwhisker to appear with two young kittens in jaw, and even stranger for a kittypet to visit Clan territory to see two of the kits. Seeing as Kite was adamantly opposed to leaving her housefolk, Rushwhisker promised the dismayed mother that they would make it work.

Pea was fascinated by everything her father told her. She loved the idea of the Clans, and constantly talked about it to her mother and Biscuit when Rushwhisker left. Biscuit was content with their life; she had no wish to go to the Clans. Pea, however, was another story. Kite spent days pleading with her to forget her father's life, but the dream never quite left little Pea.

The patched sorrel kit continued to adore her father, and constantly asked him about life in RiverClan. Rushwhisker was happy to oblige, and one day promised that, if she was good, he would take Pea to see RiverClan from a distance. Pea readily agreed, and stayed up all night due to her secret excitement.

But Rushwhisker never returned.

Pea was crushed, and though Kite tried to tell her that he was fine, the five-moon-old kit escaped the Twoleg den. She quickly became lost, and broke down after two nights' worth of this. She was starving and shivering when they found her.

The RiverClan patrol brought the tiny kit back to the camp, where she spent nearly a week recovering. By that time, she had learned that her father, Rushwhisker, had disappeared. A feeling of dread took root in her, but she said nothing of him being her father.Nobody ever made the connection; they merely assumed that she was purely kittypet, and it was easier that way for everyone.

Pea immediately decided she wanted to stay here. The camp was busy, friendly, and the cats seemed to like her just fine. She pleaded to be allowed to join, and after a day's consideration, Badgerstar agreed to let Pea stay. When he prepared to make the announcement of her kit name, however, Pea spoke up. She had no wish to remember her kittypet life; she was ashamed of her soft origins. She asked to be named Hazelkit instead; Badgerstar obliged.

And so Hazelkit came to join the Clans. At five and a half moons old, she was close to a regular kit's apprenticeship, but it was decided that she would wait another moon to become familiar with the Clan's ways. She watched and learned hungrily, wanting more than anything to be a good warrior. She was sensitive about being half-kittypet and never spoke of it. When she was named an apprentice, she was seven moons old and eager to prove herself.

Hazelpaw still nurses her dream of being a great warrior, and works today to strive for that goal. She is an asset to her Clan, however kitlike and bold, and looks with shining eyes to the future.

Pale moonlight spilled over the hollow like liquid starshine, glittering off the frosted earth and giving the territory a sheening quality. Flurries of snow, leftover from the morning's snowfall, stirred at Spottedfawn's feet as she walked alone. It was not often that she got out these days; leafbare kept everyone on their toes, but especially Spottedfawn, as she had yet to gain an apprentice. All the work and stress of battling greencough had fallen onto Spottedfawn's shoulders, but it was not as hefty a weight as she had expected; no, it was not nearly as bad as it had been her first leafbare, when she had been but a kit, watching her Clanmates scurry about in terror as loved ones fell ill.

Thank StarClan for that, she thought silently. Though she was alone and undoubtedly could not disturb anyone by speaking
aloud, Spottedfawn had a deep respect for the quiet. After all, it ruled over half her life. She twitched her left ear again, but the sense of disappointment that had always plagued her youth had long since left her. Even though Spottedfawn had yet to be considered old, she was certainly old beyond her moons, and had grown up a changed cat after her accident. Her russet fur bristled slightly at the memory, and she hurriedly shoved it away. No, she didn't need that to ruin the frosty night...

Something soft brushed her paw, and she glanced down in surprise, pale eyes brightening at once. Of course she recognized the delicate, violet-tinged blossom of comfrey drooping sadly at her feet- rather, Spottedfawn was thrilled at the lucky find. Pawing it gently, she let out a satisfied purr as she carefully nipped through its long, pale stems, murmuring, "I'd have thought you'd be taking a nap through the cold, like every other sensible plant...well, not to say you aren't welcome..."

Grinning past the stalks clutched in her teeth, Spottedfawn turned on her heel and bounded away, heart warm in her chest. It was a beautiful night, with a beautiful find- and in Spottedfawn's simple world, nothing could have made her happier.

And here, you have Hazelpaw! <3 She's my second character for TBT and I love her to pieces. I hope you all like her too ;u;

If anyone wants (which I don't think you will XD) you can adopt Kite or Biscuit. Also, if you have a cat you want to be related to Hazelpaw, just ask! They can be an aunt, uncle, cousin, ect. Rushwhisker (in the books) never had siblings or parents named, as far as I can tell, so if you see anything please let me know <3

Thank you!
